Ahead of the Game

For once in my life, I am well ahead of the game when it comes to Christmas and doing all the Christmas stuff you are supposed to do. This will probably never happen ever again. So, I'm going to enjoy it while I have the opportunity.

As of now, I am done Christmas shopping for my family and Jeff's family and all the gifts have been mailed out. I have done 90% of my shopping for Jeff already. The rest is just fun stuff. We got all of our outdoor lights up and it looks great! Jeff put the finishing touches on it today. We got the tree up and decorated. I did all the decorating and when I was done the first time, I sent Jeff out for more decorations (since he was going out for more light anyway.)

I even called my mom to let her know. You know why? I never decorate for holidays. It's just not in me. But, Jeff likes it and that makes it fun. Plus, we will be hosting an Orphan's Christmas this year and you can't do that without lights and a tree. Seriously.

The only thing I have not done is written my Christmas letter for the Christmas cards that have already been bought. That's this coming week. This is probably the first and last time I will be doing such. Maybe. I seem to be able to get out Christmas cards sporadically. We'll see. This was a big year for me. It's worth a Christmas letter from Jeff and I.

So, what does all this mean? It means that I can sit back and enjoy the holiday season without a lot of the stress that comes with it. When Jeff and I go out, we'll be shopping for ourselves with the Christmas budget we decided on for our house. We can go out on the 23rd or 24th and just enjoy the season and not freak out. That's the best part about getting all my stuff together early this year.

We're also trying to get the Christmas stuff done early because we're going on a major road trip on my Christmas break (driving out to Arizona and spending Christmas and New Year's there). Most of the shopping is done (and wrapped!). Some limited decorating happening next weekend, and cards going out the week after that.

I'm also doing a Christmas letter. I don't do them every year, but I wanted to make sure everyone gets the news about the upcoming adoption.

(And yes, this was a big year for you! Definitely letter-worthy!).

Sounds like you're all set for a nice holiday season.
