Two Cool Things

1. I just sold my first zombie based story, "A Bite to Remember" to Permuted Press' "The World is Dead" anthology.

2. Last week, I spent all of about 5 hours at home. During the 3 hours on Wednesday, this handsome, young hawk showed up on my back porch just in time for both Jeff and I to see him. I don't know for sure what breed he is but I believe he is a red-tailed hawk. (Mary? Do you know?) I love birds of prey and it was so cool to see this one.

It could be either a Red-tailed Hawk, or an American Goshawk. Both of them are native to the north Americana. It is hard from the picture to tell what the color is (might be my computer screen).

This bird is very pretty!

Looking through the Cornell bird website:

No brow stripe makes me think this isn't a goshawk.
It could be a light-form red-tail, but the tail striping seems too broad, and the tail a bit long. Being able to see the back would have helped.

I'm thinking it might be a Cooper's Hawk actually.

Congratulations on the sale!

Continued happy thoughts on the Heather updates as well.

No clue on the hawk, other than appreciation of the pic.
