The Red... It Haunts Me

Not a lot of you know this but my Mom edits 90% of my fiction work before it sees professional eyes outside mine. Today, she returned the FFF manuscript. I opened it up with true anticipation. She had already made some good comments about it. Then, I got to the first page.

It looked like she had slaughtered something on it. The red corrections and comments covered the page.

My heart sank for a moment. Then, I sighed and got to work.

It's all for the best but the red edit marks made by my mom's virtual pen haunt my writing nightmares from time to time.

Sargon does that to me. It's . . . pain like a thousand papercuts.

I remember when you started the FFF stories. You specifically said that they would be stories that just flowed out of you and you weren't going to do much editing for grammar, typos etc. So don't let the red get you down. In a normal situation, you would have caught most of those yourself before your mother saw them.

And for the record, I loved those stories. It is what made me return to your blog every week even though we don't know each other. :)

Once I finished the BPAL reviews, I'm going to come up with another Friday Fiction thing. I just don't know what, yet.

I have a friend of mine who does the same thing for me. He's snarking at me that his red pen is drying out because I haven't written in so long *LOL*
