BPAL Reviews

Previous BPAL Reviews and my Summary page of all reviews for Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab scents.

Scent: Coyote
Description: The Native American Creator / Trickster God of Chaos and Change. The warmth of doeskin, dry plains grasses and soft, dusty woods warmed by amber and a downy, gentle coat of deep musk.
Thoughts: I really liked this scent when I first put it on but then it went to powder with a slight undertone of something in under an hour. That's too bad. Pass.
Buy: No

Scent: Dragon's Milk
Description: A truly fae nectar! Dragon's blood resin and honeyed vanilla.
Thoughts: I like the way this one smells a lot. This actually could become a regular scent for me. I'm going to have to think about it and see what it does over the day. Otherwise, character scent.
Buy: Maybe. Still have the imp.

Scent: Dublin
Description: The scent of misty forests, damp alder leaf, and the gentlest touch of white rose.
Thoughts: Fairly generic on me. Nothing special.
Buy: No.

Scent: Hades
Description: The gloomy Hades enriches himself with our sighs and our tears. The Unseen. Eldest brother of Zeus, Husband of Persephone, Lord of the Underworld and Commander of the Demons of the Underworld, God of Wealth. A dark, palpably sacred chthonic blend: black narcissus and cypress, stephanotis, opoponax, labdanum, onycha and ambergris.
Thoughts: A decidedly masculine scent with an almost sweet undertone that smoothes it more towards gender neutral as it wears on the skin. After a few hours, it still smells very masculine. Nice for a guy but not me.
Buy: No.

Scent: Oisin
Description: A legendary warrior bard from Irish lore and a renowned member of the Fianna. His saga is detailed in two of the four great Cycles of Celtic legend: the Fenian and Ossianic Cycles. A lyric, wistful blend of summertime Irish blossoms and herbs, glistening with vibrant white musk. (Discontinued.)
Thoughts: It was ok. It just sort of sat on my skin thinking about what it wanted to do and in the end, it just took its toys and went home. Disappointing.
Buy: No.

Scent: Silk Road
Description: A panoply of cultural treasures, spanning the herbs, flowers, oils and balms of the Romans, the Byzantines, the Mediterranean, the Levant, Northern China, Eastern Europe, Iran, the Bulgar-Kypchak, Mesopotamia, the Crimean Peninsula, Anatolia, Antioch, and North Africa.
Thoughts: This is a very light scent. Very herbal and interesting. Not what I usually like to where but it would be a good character scent, I think. It reminds me of something. I can't tell what.
Buy: No.

Scent: Ultraviolet
Description: Electrifying, mechanized and chilly -- the scent of crushed blooms strewn on cold metal. Lush violet and neroli spiked hard with eucalyptus and a sliver of mint.
Thoughts: This scent fades away to nothing within 3 hours. Frankly, I felt like I wasn't wearing a scent at all.
