Good Things and Bad Things

Bad Thing: Grants Pass got rejected by the agent. Not because he didn't like it. Because it didn't have any BIG name authors in it. He really liked it but because the anthology market is so tough, without a couple of big names attached, he doesn't think he can sell it. Thus, he cannot accept it. He thinks after I've made more of a name for myself, I'd have an easier time selling it. Or, if I can get people like Greg Bear, Stephen King, Margaret Weis or other big sellers to write for me, it would sell now.

Good Thing: I don't think he was blowing smoke at me. He'd like to see my full Regresser's Evolution manuscript next week.

Bad Thing: Dead laptop. This is a most vexing situation.

Good Thing: Friends jumping to my aide and rescue. People offering to do data recovery and to help me with new hardware.

Good Thing: I only lost 2500 words on the new novel. It could have been so much worse. And it may be recovered.

Good Thing: I've cleaned up both of my desks and got Susannah set up at my regular desk ready for writing again, starting tomorrow morning.

Bad Thing: Two more inches of very wet snow in Redmond.

Good Thing: I don't have to go anywhere.

Good Thing: It's supposed to be nothing but warming weather and rain after tomorrow.

Bad Thing: My surround sound theater system has a short in it somewhere so that the speakers all go out from time to time.

Good Thing: I figured out a makeshift solution that won't cost me any money.
