BPAL Reviews

Previous BPAL Reviews for Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab scents.

Scent: Aglaea
Description: Splendour. Three golden ambers, bright musk, peach wine and myrtle. (Gender neutral)
Thoughts: Peaches. Golden, bright, sweet peaches with light undertones of amber. This is an extremely light and bright scent. It is primarily a peach scent with occasional hints of something warmer. Very clean and pure. Definitely a Spring and Summer scent.
Buy: No but keep the imp

Scent: Casanova
Description: A rakish blend of leather, anise, lavender, bergamot and amber with tonka, lemon peel and lusty patchouli.
Thoughts: I can't remember if I ordered this one or if it an extra. I think it is an extra. Good choice. The patchouli is very strong at first. But, it mellows out a lot. Definitely a very masculine scent but I really like the way it smells on my skin once the sharpness evens. I want to see how it smells on some of my guy friends, too. Edit: This is a long lasting scent. By the end of the day, it smells like "Guy." You know - the scent you smell when you nuzzle your lover's neck after a good make out session or the scent he leaves on you and your clothing after being close. Definitely keep this imp.
Buy: Maybe and keep the imp.

Scent: Dance of Death
Description: A gloriously elegant representation of Lady Death. Dry, bone-white orris, black musk, serpentine patchouli and our murkiest myrrh.
Thoughts: An extra imp. I'm discovering that I really like the scent of black musk. Or, maybe it is myrrh. The patchouli is always too strong for me but fortunately, it seems to fade fast. This is not a bad scent. But, it isn't anything special on me.
Buy: No

Description: John Dee: His scent is soft English leather, rosewood and tonka with a hint of incense, parchment and soft woods.
Thoughts: I like this scent. But, it fades into nothing too quickly. It's only a couple hours later and all I can really smell now is a bit of the rosewood. It would be better if it stuck around and kept it's scent longer.
Buy: No.

Scent: Hellfire
Description: A scent celebrating Sir Francis Dashwood’s Order of the Knights of St. Francis of Wycombe, also known as the Hellfire Club. A swirl of pipe tobacco, hot leather, ambergris, dark musk and the lingering incense smoke from their Black Mass.
Thoughts: On me, this doesn't smell anything like it is described. No tobacco, leather or musk. I get a light sweet scent, a hint of soap and an afterthought of smoke. Very disappointing.
Buy: No

Scent: Inferno
Description: The Dark Side of Fire: cinnamon, bitter almond, and neroli. Heavily spiced, torrid, and possibly conflagrant.
Thoughts: This stuff smells just like Red Hot cinnamon candy on me. It's not a bad scent. It just isn't a good one. Also, it goes to powder in about an hour. Definitely not a good one for me.
