It recently occurred to me that the Skin project was one heck of a long, involved, complex and powerful spell. In short, the author is taking volunteers to have one word of her story tattooed on them. That is her living art. Once tattooed, the people are no longer people but "words." They are to be the embodiment of the word they bear. This is the only place this story will be published.

I think my favorite part of her website is: "Only the death of words effaces them from the text. As words die the story will change; when the last word dies the story will also have died. The author will make every effort to attend the funerals of her words." (Her words refers to the people tattooed.)

I have a huge urge to do this. My only fear is getting a dull, non-descript word like "the" "a" "and" or "it."

Edit: I've written to the author with my questions and thoughts. We'll see what she comes back with. Who knows, maybe I will become one of "her words."
