Well, on the good side of things, I know that the fire alarm in my temp housing works.

On the bad side of things, it went off at 10:05pm for about 30 minutes. Then, once we were allowed back in, it gave three sharp blasts at 11:00pm and then, again, four sharp blasts at 12:19am. Needless to say, I didn't get as much sleep as I wanted and I'm pretty tired today.

Today is a big day. It's my personal New Year's Day and, hopefully, I get the keys to my house. Honestly, I'm not even cautiously optimistic about it. I'm cautiously negative. Especially since, last night, Ross happened to tell me about the "pissing contest" he is in the middle of with the Flagstar woman who needs to approve/provision my loan by 11am this morning. He thinks it's no issue because it is routine. Well, NOTHING has been routine in this house buying. Also, this morning, the Escrow people called and told me that I missed signing a second HUD because it wasn't in my signing package and it has to be faxed to me, signed and returned ASAP. Of course, the Escrow lady doesn't know the fax number or how it works….

So, as much as I want to be excited about my house, I don't dare be hopeful. I don't think I will deal well with another crushing blow involving this house buying transaction.
