From the TEoP Slushpile...

TEoP Slushpile Scorecard for 2008
  • 68 total submissions

  • 66 total submissions read.
  • 55 total rejections.
  • 02 total submissions kept for rereads ('maybe' reactions).
  • 09 total "Yes!" responses.

  • 02 submissions to go.

My stars and garters! The slushpile for the Edge of Propinquity for this month was far and away a step up in quality in both writing and sticking to theme. Only one did not really meet the theme and if you turned it sideways, squinting, you could have made it fit. There was not one story in this last set that pissed me off. I'm amazed and pleased. Some of the rejections were hard to make. People are really reading the guidelines and following them.

    3:15pm Break

I have knocked down a ton of business work, writing work and housework so far. What I have left for now (since I am blocked on the QA and I'm dedicating a big portion of tech writing for tomorrow) is to continue editing my FFF manuscript. I have two weeks to finish. I could get it done without a problem if I wasn't doing so many other things.

So, today, now... I'm going to have an overfull glass of Asti (finishing off a lingering bottle) because I can. And I want.

In a way, I feel extravagant, hedonistic and a bit debauched.

I also feel like I'm toasting to the legacy of past authors.
