Jenn with flowers

Sometimes, I really miss my old boss, Patrick. He was a really good boss to work for and an excellent friend. We keep trying to meet for lunch but both of our schedules make for some challenging schedule hockey. He had to cancel lunch today as he was telling me on IM. Then, he said, "But, I brought you roses from my garden!"

Have I mentioned how much I love flowers?

So, I met up with him in the café for the rose delivery and they are gorgeous. Really gorgeous and the smallest "blushing" rose smells so good. It smells an almost peachy-fruity Muscat wine.

They are sitting on my desk and I smile every time I look at them.

Doomed. Doomed, I tell you!

Someone help me. My mind has been noodling over the 2nd and 3rd parts to Regresser's Evolution (tentatively called Empire's Devolution and Evolution's Heterosis). Part Two happens in parallel to RE and Part Three is the merging of the two plotlines. In fact, I've been noodling over the idea of rewriting RE and removing the concept of Earth from the novel. Making it a little dirtball planet that never evolved it's technology past steam engines. It would change Regresser's Evolution considerably but the more I think about it, the more I think it would make for a better story and get rid of a lot of crap involving an already known world that really isn't that important anyway.

In fact, I've been noodling over the idea of making it one long book called Regresser's Evolution with three parts: Evolution, Devolution and Heterosis.

I don't know why I can't get this novel out of my head. It was the third one I wrote. So, it doesn't have "First Baby" syndrome.

Meh. My brain frustrates me sometimes.
