Perma-Grin

Ok. That was unexpectedly cool. This morning I was hungry, so I decided to get something from the grill in Café 31. The Chef was someone I did not recognize. The Chef started cooking up my order when another guy came in to check the oven equipment. They obviously knew each other, speaking in Spanish in the casual form. I don't speak Spanish, but I do understand it. The conversation I caught onto went like this:

Chef: How's the family?
Service guy: Good. Good. You?
Chef: Same. Equipment running good?
Service guy: Yep. Hot. Speaking of hot, she's beautiful. (I caught his low hand motion towards me since I was looking down.)
Chef: Very beautiful.
Service guy: It's a nice view to have in the morning.
Chef: Absolutely.
They smiled at each other and the Chef plated my order, giving it to me with a smile. I thanked him and went on my way.

That has me smiling a lot! I'm not dressed up or anything. Just simple black pants and a black scope neck shirt. Hair down, no jewelry except my watch. Now, I've got a perma-grin as well.

The THING Revealed

Sovereign Press has finally made a small but official announcement on the THING so I'm now allowed to talk about it! It is a new RPG called Castlemourn written by Ed Greenwood - the Father of Forgotten Realms. I'm not mentioned in the article (because I'm not the well known name in RPG circles that sells books - yet) but I worked with Ed and co-wrote the first product for Castlemourn, A Player's Guide to Castlemourn that is debuting at Gen Con Indy. This is the book I will be signing with Ed there.

Excerpt: Castlemourn is a post-apocalyptic fantasy setting where kingdoms fight for power through political intrigue and outright warfare; where the brave seek their fortunes in dangerous ruins, and where everyone fears the unspeakable evil that shadows their land.

Yes, my name is on the cover. Yes, I'm very excited. Yes, I will be doing more work on the Castlemourn line. I just don't know what yet.

A Castlemourn website is in the works right now. I'll let you know when it is up.

Oh, yeah, the cover art is being created by Donato Giancola who was the Artist GoH at this year's Norwescon.

Ebay - Villains by Necessity!

Eve Forward just put up her novel Villains By Necessity (the one I keep talking about) on eBay including a personalized message to the winner. This is one of my favorite fantasy novels where the bad guys are the only ones who can save the world from the goodness that is destroying it. It is a fun romp. I have my own copy (in hardback even), otherwise I would bid on it myself. So, get out there and bid! You will honestly enjoy this book and you can have it signed by the author herself.
