Apocalypse Girl

I'm interested in subscribing to two monthly magazines. I'm looking for recommendations. I want a scientific based one with some of the latest interesting discoveries and investigations. I don't want a tabloid-esq magazine. (zunger? jholloway? benliblit? Got any thoughts on this one?) For the other, I'm interested in a good sci-fi/fantasy magazine. Since I've never really read any of the Realms of Fantasy, Asimov or Amazing Stories magazines (save Black Gate), I need recommendations. (cmpriest? phoebe_k? frabjousdave? What do you guys read and recommend?)

I do read the following ezines: Peridot Books, Strange Horizons and Space.com.

You ever have one of those days where you think your life would be much easier if you just stop trying to explain stuff to people in a text based medium (email, LJ, IM) and just talked to them face to face? I'm having one of those days. I've had three f*ck ups today already and I'm considering (after this post) just logging off the computer for the rest of the day. Maybe longer. It might be safer for everyone all the way around.
