For Want of a Taillight

It’s been more than two weeks since I was rear-ended. I’m still fine physically. And I still don’t have my car back.

Morpheus (yes, I name my cars… don’t you?) went into the shop on the 17th. It was supposed to be done by the 21st. Obviously, this did not happen. There are two main reasons for this. First, there was more damage than first suspected. No biggie. Second, there have been problems with the taillight that got smashed.

Not little problems. Big problems. The first taillight did not fit. I guess it was for a different version of my car. They had to order a second one. The second, arriving on the 21st, was broken. Then there was Christmas and I don’t begrudge anyone a holiday. I just want my car back. So, they had to order a third light. It arrived on the 27th and, guess what, broken as well. At this point, all Morpheus is waiting for is a working taillight. That’s it. However, the auto place is now going to have to call down to Portland to see if they have one that can be shipped… and hopefully not be mangled in the process.

Thus, we still have the rental car. I am so glad we switched out that bloody jeep for something more drivable.
