Recording software?

If I wanted to start recording some of my short stories into MP3s, what software would you recommend? Free or for pay software. Free is better.

Audacity for sure.

And if you need another recorder, feel free to call me. I've been slower than I hoped but am still setting up my studio.

I haven't used Audacity, but I've heard really good things about it.

Are you wanting to set up a little recording studio in your home?

I've been using Audacity for my podcast. It's about as good as you can get for free (and that is not meant negatively).

Now, I know nobody's mentioned it yet, but Audacity is pretty good. I've been using it to digitize my LP collection.

Also, I hear good things about Sony SoundForge, which I think you can get a free 30 day trial copy...
