Walking Middle Earth

I have decided to make my walking more interesting. And because I am crazy, I decided to add up the walking distances of a lot of the characters from The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings.

My first walk will be with Bilbo.

So will you simply calculate how far you've gone on regular walks? Or do you have a real world location in mind to represent each leg of the journey? This sounds awesome to me, btw :)

I will keep track of how far and match it to something in the books. Example:

10 - Pass Three-Farthing Stone.
20 - Frogmorton. Stay at The Floating Log.
30 - Woody End.
40 - Brandywine Bridge.
50 - Pass the High Hay.
60 - Reach the Old Forest.
70 - South of the Old Forest.
80 - Between the Road and the Downs is a hedge.
90 - North into the Chetwood.
100 - Stay at The Forsaken Inn.

Wow, this is amazing...and such a great idea!

I'm going to think about it more when I am walking to the refrigerator for another beer. :)
