Raining and Pouring but Not Driving

Monday, Jeff's car refused to start. It is in the shop. Fixable. Maybe to pick up today or tomorrow at about $1000.

Today, I put my car in the shop for an oil change and 60K mile inspection and oh-good-grief the issues they found: rear brakes, balled tires, a dying battery, timer cover broken seal, rear deferential problem... all to the tune of about $1700.

It makes me want to cry. I'm already a little wigged out about money right now because of other stuff. This did not help at all.

But, we will make it work. We always do. Even if we need to cancel the plans we had for going away over Christmas that was going to be my birthday present from Jeff. Sometimes, being an adult really sucks. Most of the time, it's cool. But today is not one of those days.

I am so sorry. I hate car issues.

Me, too. At least I have the ability to get them fixed.

Vive la deference !
Dear Jennifer -- sorry for all the car probs (that's the trouble with differentials and other parts: they are not "deferential" to their owners' budgets...teehee), but hopefully that will abate now that both vehicles are back in shape.

Actually, I thought you'd once written about enjoying your car...same one? As for me, I love my '07 Mustang converttible -- the lovely retro look STILL turns me on!

Hugz,
Justine

I do love my 2006 Matrix. Every time I get a loaner car, I get reminded of this. Plus, I do still look at it and think "what a beautiful car."

So, it's good that I can get it fixed. Just not so good that it is making us cancel my birthday plans.

*hugs*

Car issues suck. So does having to be responsible and canceling plans. I hope that you do get to do something fun for your birthday regardless, even if it's a bit scaled back.

We might do a day trip to Ocean Shores to storm watch and/or beach comb instead of the 2-3 night trip.
